Full 3D HD doesn’t come cheap, at least very often. But there are some exceptions, the most notable of which being the Acer H6510BD 3D Home Theater Projector, currently selling for less than $800. For more information about this very inexpensive 3D DLP projector, please keep reading.

For most consumers, the challenge is not to buy the most sophisticated projector available – as these typically run thousands of dollars – but to find particularly good value in a projector. In other words, a model that produces high quality 2D/3D video, good color & brightness and can accommodate various inputs.

Well, Acer, one of the largest computer manufacturers today, has heard the call and has released its H6510BD Full HD 3D Home Theater Projector for just $799, a relative bargain compared to other DLP projectors in its class.

So what does the H6510BD bring?

ScreenHunter_02 May. 03 15.30First off, the picture is outstanding. Blacks are very black, contrast is sharp, and the overall picture is remarkably bright and clear compared to most DLP projectors, much less one south of $1000. This is no doubt due to its DarkChip 3 DMD, full native 1080P resolution, 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 3,000 ANSI Lumens. As a result, if a thrillingly rich, sharp and brilliant movie or gaming experience is what you seek, you will be surprised at the H6510BD’s performance.

Further, on the color score, the H6510BD may be even more impressive. DLP models’ color rendering can often be lackluster and/or suffer from the rainbow effect. However, this model renders rich, accurate colors right out of the box without any noticeable rainbowing.  And to the extent you need to tinker with the colors (which we always do), the H6510BD provides an extraordinary level of user control – each color comes with a seemingly endless menu of variables that can be adjusted to get things just right. This is something we rarely see, especially in a projector in this price range.

In addition, this projector can make virtually any movie pop from the screen with its instant 2D-to-3D high def conversion technology. And you can use this model with all of the prevailing 3D technologies, including Blu-ray 3D, DLP 3D, and NVIDIA 3DTV.

ScreenHunter_04 May. 03 15.43Also important, especially for gamers, is that this model does not suffer from dreaded input lag – so it’s ideal for projecting the fastest and most chaotic-paced games you can think of.

Add to all this a very respectable remote control, long bulb life, all the vital inputs and a relatively low-noise cooling fan, and you have yourself an unbelievable 3D projector that will knock your socks off.

But what about the downsides? Well, there aren’t too many here, but among them are the wimpy 2 watt internal speaker, a lack of any lens protection/cover, some slight color distortion at the highest “Bright” setting, and the fact that no 3D glasses are included with the projector.

Overall though, we have to say that we are unusually impressed by the quality of this Full HD 3D projector for its unusually modest price. And we are not alone; already this model is gaining a 5-star reputation from numerous tech rating sources and individual consumer reviewers. Consequently, if you are looking for a stunning movie-watching or gaming experience, and want maximum bang for your buck, it’s safe to say that the Acer H6510BD 3D Home Theater Projector is currently one of – if not the – the best deals going.
